Hello from Michigan Landscape Professionals.
We are in an unprecedented healthcare crisis and the Governor’s recent “Stay Safe, Stay at Home” Executive Order was published to help s low the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier in the week, the National Association of Landscape Professionals published a letter to its members stating that our work is an “essential service” and “necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences.” However, as of a few hours ago, Governor Whitmer held a press conference during which she specifically stated that landscaping and construction are not critical and continued work for these industries would result in a violation of the Order. As of today, it is clear that we cannot continue production.
Many of you have heard me talk about being an “employer of choice” in the green industry and respecting our employees. As such, the management team and I believe that it is not only a requirement to comply with the governor’s order, but is also in the best interest of our employees health and safety to do so.
We want to keep our team safe and healthy so that when the Order is released, the sun is shining, and the grass is growing, we will be there to serve our homeowners, communities, and commercial accounts.
The Company will make every effort to catch up quickly on pre-season work we often complete in late March and April. We will communicate proactively with you to ensure you know where things stand as we ramp back up after the Order is lifted. Until that time, we will have a limited number of employees working remotely who can address any immediate needs or questions as much as possible.
